Expands Reputation in the Machine-to-Machine Wireless Communications Industry
ATLANTA (October 30, 2007) Cirronet, Inc. celebrates twenty years of wireless excellence, almost one full year after being acquired by 28 year-old wireless solutions leader RF Monolithics (NASDAQ: RFMI) in 2006. As an RFM company, Cirronet is enabling OEM (original equipment manufacturer) design engineers to connect and network more devices, equipment, and processes than ever before.
Cirronet was established in September 1987 as an OEM modules supplier and offers high quality, high reliability wireless products in a broad range of technologies including ZigBee, 802.15.4, proprietary FHSS and DSSS mesh protocols, Bluetooth, and WiFi. When embedded into OEM next-generation products, RFM and Cirronet products enable end-users to connect, communicate, control and monitor wireless-enabled OEM devices over the Internet.
Cirronet was founded to take advantage of the then just passed FCC Part 15.247 license-free ISM rules. The idea was to create wireless radio modules that could be embedded into or retro-fitted to OEM equipment to meet the demanding requirements in industrial and manufacturing operations. In 1996, Cirronet expanded their offerings from OEM modules to include stand-alone, ready-made devices for systems integrators. These devices include gateways, serial and Ethernet modems, and access points for wireless networking in legacy equipment.
This anniversary finds the company with a well-earned reputation for quality and performance in a rapidly changing industry. Cirronet is a stand-out among their peers, the majority of which are recent start-ups offering one or two technologies and limited RF expertise. By contrast, Cirronet offers the broadest technology and device selection with deep RF experience that ensures wireless data when and where you need it.
With a start in Atlanta, Georgia, Cirronet has since developed into an international company and is now well known throughout the world. The 2006 RFM acquisition helped Cirronet rapidly expand its reputation in the emerging world of machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity in industrial wireless communications and other sectors. Cirronet products are now available through a world-wide network of manufacturer’s sales reps and industry leading distributors that include Avnet Memec, ACAL, Nu Horizons, Richardson Electronics, and Mouser Electronics.
